Saturday Surfing, June 9th, 2018 (The Birthday Edition)
Hiya! Happy Saturday from Monterey, California! This is the face of a blissed-out birthday lady who just had an hour-long deep-tissue massage. Ah… I said “peace out” to my 42nd year on the earth last night with a visit to the Spa on the Plaza, and uh… So good. Afterwards, I hit up the steam room, and since nobody was there (I was one of the last appointments of the day), I spread out a bunch of towels, laid down, tucked a towel underneath my neck, and sweated it out. The spa had these fancy showers with three shower heads...
Sundays With Tabs the Cat, Makeup and Beauty Blog Mascot, Vol. 556
You know you’re a cat lady when you do the following: Buy a catnip plant that you keep in your front yard — not just for your cat, but for all of the neighborhood kitties. You never feel fully dressed unless you have a handful of cat treats in your pocket or a can of gravy in your purse. One thing your best friend(s) taught you? They taught me...

By placing a cell in a small chamber containing nanosensors and observing it over many hours, it is possible to identify the cell’s unique personality and understand how it communicates. This powerful new technology could be used to select the most aggressive cells to combat an enemy. Potential applications include treatments for cancer and autoimmune diseases.h/t Phys.org: Cell chat: Attacking disease by learning the language of cells

More adventures on the gluten-free front. (Good morning and happy Saturday, by the way!) I should have taken pics along the way when I made this GF veggie spaghetti the other day, but it was totally improvised, a.k.a. I had no idea if it was going to taste gross, so there were no cameras up in the mix. Cameras only get involved when there is 0% gross factor, ha ha! The pasta turned out pretty darn delicious, if I do say so myself. It’s made out of yellow lentils and brown rice and tastes kinda nutty, like Japanese soba noodles....
